Interactive Map of Pink Trumpet Blossoms
Mapping trails, photos and data for journaling seasonal memories
Self-inititated
Every year, the bloom of the pink trumpet tree transforms the colour and texture of Bengaluru’s streets. Petals carpeting the ground, clusters swaying overhead, the bursts of pink amidst green treetops—these moments were highlights of my long walks in Bangalore. As I shuttled between cities, memories of the blooms sparked an idea to document them and open the experience to new people.
This interactive photo-journal is an archive that preserves these encounters in a digital space. Photographed over 5 months, the project brings together images of the trees in bloom alongside contextual information on their species, location, and cycles of flowering. Visitors are invited to navigate through a map where each tree is identified and marked for bloom levels.
The archive foregrounds both the intimacy of personal memory and the shared possibility of experiencing these blossoms collectively.

What it maps
Flower life cycle
The project shares the seasons and blooming cycles of the Pink Trumpet flower. It shares some information on this lesser-known flower which is often incorrectly dubbed as 'cherry blossom'.
My walking routes
I enjoyed these blossoms during my evening and morning walks around my residential area. Different walking routes provided different views of blossoming trees and a lovely walk through the plant litter.
Photo-documentation
Many photos were taken in appreciation of the blossoming trees. They were mapped along the walking route and their particulars are presented as data-points.
